Talk about bringing on the bad karma. Greenville police said someone has wreaked havoc on a local cemetery destroying almost 100 grave sites causing thousands of dollars in damage. And, whoever did it not only has the police coming after them, but all those unfriendly ghosts as well. Yikes.
A report by The State says the Springwood Cemetery in downtown Greenville was vandalized, with more than 94 tombstones either knocked down or broken.
Investigators said the damage to the tombstones, some of which dated back to the 1700s, was discovered after daybreak Thursday.
Cemetery officials estimated repairs will cost at least $100,000, and the city of Greenville will pay for the damage.
Police are asking the public for any tips leading them to the vandals.
