There are a lot of stupid things that go on on Facebook. From ridiculous accounts that celebrate facial hair, to boring status updates, to some questionable photos. But, imagine the surprise a young woman had when out of no where a photo of a stranger was uploaded to her Facebook account…from her stolen cell phone.
A report by WYFF 4 says a photo uploaded to an armed robbery victim’s Facebook page could lead investigators to the men accused of the crime.
Lt. Michael Hildbrand of the Greenville county Sheriff’s Department released the photo on Wednesday hoping someone recognizes the poser.
On November 28, Pegysantana Mattison, 24, was visiting a friend at Springwood Apartments on Sulpher Springs Road when she was robbed by three men, one of which had a handgun, according to Hildebrand. The men took money and Mattison’s cell phone before they got away on foot.
Deputies were investigating the robbery when Mattison saw an unfamiliar face pop up on her Facebook account. She reported to police that someone had uploaded a photo to her Facebook account and that she believes the photo was taken by someone using her stolen cell phone.
Deputies were asking for the public’s help in identifying the person shown in the photo. Anyone with information was asked to call Crime Stoppers at 23-CRIME.
