‘Eat, fry, love;’ William Shatner’s got news for you about deep frying

The lovely folks at State Farm have outdone themselves this year with a hilarious parody courtesy of acclaimed actor William Shatner in this turkey frying video.

Actor William Shatner teamed up with State Farm this month to help raise awareness about the dangers of improper turkey frying.

Shatner has portrayed memorable characters such as Captain James T. Kirk in Star Trek, T.J. Hooker, and Denny Crane in Boston Legal. Shatner also burned his arms in 2005 while frying a turkey for his family at Thanksgiving.

“I love to fry turkey and have been doing it for years but I am not immune to frying accidents,” says Shatner. “In fact, my family now gathers together to watch my mishaps. Several years ago I was even burned on my arms after accidentally dropping the turkey in the hot oil. People need to remember that hot oil and turkey can be a dangerous combination.”

To warn others that turkey fryer accidents actually do happen, Shatner teamed up with State Farm to produce a short online “docudrama” recounting his experiences.

And, in related news, learn what you can do to prevent and even disable a turkey fryer fire.
