Dorm life is stressful enough. Now Clemson University students have a major roommate issue: professors.
Dorm life seems to be one of those love/hate life lessons. If you’ve taken to the university lottery for your roommate, the fate of your well-being and mental stability is on the line. Months of moldy green leftovers, dirty socks on the floors and a blabber-mouth on the phone with their mother could be the nightmare you’ve been dreading. Now, imaging that…while learning your roommate is a professor.
In a bold, somewhat creepy move by Clemson University, Fox Carolina reports they’ve started a Faculty in Residence program to help students and professors build a stronger relationship.
“I really believe our education goes well beyond the classroom,” says Vernon Berton, a CU history professor, who’s shared a similar experience while teaching at Princeton. “I think it made me a better teacher as well, as I enjoyed getting to know people, and I found I could make a difference.”
No word on what the students really think about this. I guess just like the student roommate lottery, it all depends on who you get stuck with.
